Sweet Victory: 6 months ago today!

Can you believe that today marks six months since we piled into the Bedford courthouse, anxiously awaiting Judge Updike to share his thoughts and deliver his final ruling on the fate of Sweet Briar College? We had given everything we had to save her and when he said, "Sweet Briar College will not merely endure. It will prevail," we rose to our feet as our emotional relief began to flow. I looked over at Marcia Thom Kaley, smiled, and said, "Holla, Holla?" And with that, we began our familiar chant of praise to him for a job well done and the opportunity to carry Indiana Fletcher Williams' vision into perpetuity.

Since that time, we have adopted Ellen Bowyer into our sisterhood, transferred power, spent time beautifying our beloved campus, welcomed our current students home, and worked diligently to recruit future students. We still have a long road ahead in nursing Sweet Briar College back to full health, but we have proven there is nothing that we cannot do. Going into the future, it is important that we never forget this historic battle and how we came together as one powerful force to fight for what is good and right.

The Spirit of Sweet Briar is a full color coffee table book depicting our battle. It will be released on March 3rd, and is available for pre-order for a limited time (only ten more days!) right here. Flip through the preview below and secure your copy today.
